REGIME: Daily Habit Tracker · strict daily discipline, no RPG
A Habitica alternative when you want discipline, not an RPG
No pets. No parties. No gold. One checklist, and a chain that breaks if you miss the day.
Compared with Habitica as Habitica describes itself on habitica.com. Checked 3 October 2026.
Free download with in-app purchases. 7-day free trial on the yearly plan ($29.99/yr).
Habitica is a habit app that treats real life like a game. Its own site says you track Habits, Dailies, and To Do's, earn experience and gold, level an avatar, and unlock equipment, pets, skills, and quests. Missed Dailies cost health. Parties fight monsters together. A lot of people stay consistent because the game is fun. That is a real design, not a flaw.
It is also the wrong design if the game is the reason you opened a habit tracker and the reason you stopped trusting it. If you want a Habitica alternative with no gamified RPG, REGIME is the narrower tool: a daily checklist, a hard streak, eight ranks, and a weekly review. The ranks are not loot. There is no avatar to dress and no party to disappoint.
What each product is for
| Habitica, from habitica.com | REGIME | |
|---|---|---|
| Daily structure | Habits, Dailies, and To Do's. Dailies can repeat on a chosen schedule. | One checklist of non-negotiables for the day. |
| When you miss | Uncompleted Dailies cost health. The health bar is part of the game. | A missed day resets the streak. There is no health bar. You can start again today. |
| Reward | Experience, gold, equipment, pets, mounts, skills, quests. | Eight ranks earned from consistency. The progress screen describes them as running from RECRUIT to IMMORTAL. You do not buy a rank. |
| Other people | Parties, quests, and a community. You can also play solo. | No feed and no party. Share a completed-day milestone only if you want to. |
| Where it lives | Web and mobile apps. You play an avatar in an online game. | iPhone and iPad. No account. Habit entries stay on your device. |
Habitica details above are the product's own description on its homepage and overview, not a reverse-engineered feature matrix. Pricing for Habitica is left out of this page because it changes and this comparison does not depend on it.
What you give up, on purpose
Switching is a loss if you like the game. You will not hatch a pet, take damage, pool a quest, or spend gold on a reward. REGIME is plain on purpose. The Today screen is the chain and the orders for the day. Complete every one, or the day does not count.
The checklist is the planner. The next unfinished habit is the focus. Hold a habit to check it off, and only after you have done it. When every non-negotiable is done, the day gets a DAY COMPLETE stamp. Optional morning and evening reminders can bracket a morning routine and an evening close. The weekly review shows the last seven days of check-ins. Eight ranks mark the chain.
How to move a routine across
Do not export your whole Habitica life and call that discipline. The long list is often the problem.
- From your Dailies, keep only the lines you finish on a normal week. Leave the To Do pile where it is. REGIME is not a task inbox.
- Drop anything you were doing for gold, for a quest scroll, or because the party was waiting. If the only reason to floss was a crit, decide whether floss is actually a non-negotiable. If it is, it goes on the checklist. If it is not, leave it off.
- Add those few habits, turn off the rest, and keep the order stable. A long imported list is a second character sheet. Do not bring it.
- Run one week. Open the weekly review before you add a new line. A chain that survives seven honest days is a better goal than a character that levels while the morning routine slips.
- If you miss a day, the streak resets. There is no health potion and no party member to cover you. Start again today with the same short list.
Stay on Habitica if the avatar, the pets, and the party are why you show up. A strict checklist will bore some people, and that is a reason to keep the game, not a reason to insult it. Broader patterns are on REGIME vs soft habit apps.
A chain, not a campaign
REGIME's streak is one number for the finished day. It is the don't-break-the-chain rule, described on the habit tracker with streaks page. It is not a set of Dailies that can be due on different weekdays while a health bar absorbs the rest. If your real aim is a fixed 75-day program rather than a game, the 75 Hard tracker page explains what this app will and will not check. If you want per-task streaks on Apple platforms, read the Streaks app alternative instead of forcing that job onto a single chain.
